Hasil Le Mans 24 Hours: #7 Toyota Meraja, #28 JOTA Podium Kedua
Mobil #7 Toyota Gazoo Racing mendominasi Le Mans 24 Hours yang berakhir Minggu (22/8/2021), #28 JOTA geberan Sean Gelael dan kawan-kawan finis podium kedua kelas LMP2.

Toyota Gazoo Racing benar-benar tampil dominan pada balap ketahanan mobil legendaris di Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, Prancis, tersebut. Kedua mobil mereka, #7 Toyota GR010 – Hybrid dan #8 Toyota GR010 – Hybrid mampu finis 1-2 overall dan kategori Hypercar.
Memulai lomba pada Sabtu (21/8/2021) malam pukul 21.00 WIB, dari pole position dengan pembalap Mike Conway, mereka mengakhiri balapan lewat Kamui Kobayashi. Satu pembalap #7 Toyota lainnya adalah Jose Maria Lopez.
Seusai melahap 371 lap Sirkuit Le Mans selama 24 jam, #7 Toyota unggul satu lap atau 36,791 detik atas atas “saudaranya”, #8 Toyota yang digeber bergantian oleh Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, serta Kazuki Nakajima yang menjadi pembalap terakhir saat finis.

Peringat ketiga overall dan kelas Hypercar direbut Tim Alpine Elf Matmut setelah mobil #36 Alpine A480 – Gibson geberan Nicolas Lapierre – dua pembalap lainnya: Andre Negrao dan Matthieu Vaxiviere – finis empat lap di belakang #7 Toyota.
Torehan ini memang fantastis bagi Toyota Gazoo Racing. Bagaimana tidak, inilah kali keempat beruntun mereka juara kelas tertinggi di Le Mans 24 Hours setelah sebelumnya sukses pada 2018, 2019, dan 2020.
Sukses kali ini agak berbeda karena inilah untuk kali pertama kategori Hypercar dilombakan dan Toyota langsung menjadi kampiun.
Hasil impresif juga ditorehkan pembalap Indonesia yang turun dengan mobil #28 JOTA Oreca 07 – Gibson, Sean Gelael yang didampingi Stoffel Vandoorne dan Tom Blomqvist berhasil finis di podium kedua kategori tersebut.
Mereka berhasil menempati peringkat ketujuh secara keseluruhan seusai melibas 363 lap. Namun di kategori yang mereka ikuti, LMP2, Sean Gelael dan kawan-kawan berhasil menempati posisi kedua.
Upaya para pembalap mobil #28 JOTA Oreca 07 – Gibson mencapai puncaknya menjelang lomba berakhir. Tom Blomqvist yang menjadi pembalap terakhir #28 JOTA bersaing ketat dengan Robin Frijns yang menggeber #38 Team WRT.
Blomqvist akhirnya harus puas mengantar #28 JOTA finis kedua. Namun, gapnya dengan pembalap #31 WRT yang juga turun di FIA Formula E tersebut hanyalah 2,873 detik.
Kendati demikian, mengingat Le Mans 24 Hours menjadi ajang balap ketahanan mobil paling bergengsi di dunia, torehan para pembalap Tim JOTA ini jelas membanggakan.
Sean Gelael menggeber #28 Oreca 07 – Gibson selama 8:04:47 jam. Vandoorne menjadi yang paling sedikit berada di trek setelah hanya selama 6:55:12 jam di kokpit mobil. Blomqvist menjadi yang terlama dengan 8:22 jam lebih.

Di kelas LMP GTE Pro, duel sengit antara #51 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo milik Tim AF Corse dengan dengan #63 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R milik Corvette Racing, akhirnya dimenangi pabrikan asal Italia.
Alessandro Pier Guidi yang menjadi pembalap terakhir #51 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo menutup lomba LMP GTE Pro usai melibas 345 lap dengan unggul 19,578 detik atas Antonio Garcia yang berada di #63 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R.
Adapun peringkat ketiga kelas ini direbut Porsche GT Team yang menggunakan #92 Porsche 911 RSR – 19. Kevin Estre yang menjadi pembalap terakhir, masuk 3:37,115 menit setelah Pier Guidi setelah melibas 344 lap.

Selain Sean Gelael, masih ada satu lagi pembalap Indonesia yang turun di Le Mans 24 Hours edisi ke-89 ini. Andrew Haryanto yang turun bersama Tim Absolute Racing di kategori LMGTE Am didampingi Alessio Picariello an Marco Seefried.
Turun dengan mobil #18 Porsche 911 RSR-19, Picariello yang menjadi pembalap terakhir pada lomba masuk di posisi ketujuh kelas LMGTE Am – atau ke-34 overall – setelah bersama kedua rekannya melibas 332 lap Sirkuit Le Mans.
Adapun tiga besar kategori ini masing-masing direbut #83 AF Corse yang menggunakan Ferrari 488 GTE Evo, #33 TF Sport dengan andalan Aston Martin Vantage AMR, dan #80 Iron Lynx yang juga turun dengan Ferrari seperti AF Corse.
