FP1 Moto2 Malaysia: Oliveira ungguli Morbidelli, Dimas terbawah

Alex Marquez membuka sesi latihan pertama di Sepang, Jumat (27/10), dengan menempati posisi puncak, diikuti Mattia Pasini dan pembalap tuan rumah, Hafizh Syahrin. Pada saat ini, Morbidelli berada di posisi kelima.
Marquez masih terus memimpin hingga memasuki pertengahan FP1. Namun, Morbidelli kemudian merebut posisi teratas, dan sekaligus memaksa rekan setimnya itu turun pada posisi kedua.
Lima menit tersisa, Morbidelli meningkatkan catatan waktunya, tapi Oliveira mengejutkan dengan catatan waktu di bawah 2 menit 07 detik, atau tepatnya 2 menit 06,856 detik.
Pembalap Red Bull KTM Ajo itupun lebih cepat 0,073 detik atas Morbidelli. Sedangkan posisi ketiga dihuni Thomas Luthi, di depan Takaaki Nakagami dan Pasini.
Isaac Vinales pada posisi keenam, mengalahkan Marquez yang harus puas turun ke posisi ketujuh. Rookie Fabio Quartararo mengisi posisi kedelapan, kemudian Sandro Cortese dan Lorenzo Baldassari melengkapi 10 besar.
Sementara itu, Dimas turun ke trek sejak menit awal sesi. Catatan waktu pertama yang dicetaknya 2 menit 13,777 detik – dan sempat masuk posisi 15 besar.
Kendati posisinya kemudian melorot, tapi pembalap pengganti Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 itu terus menunjukkan progres cukup baik. Dimas tercatat enam kali memperbaiki catatan waktunya, sebelum kemudian menutup FP2 dengan 2 menit 09,742 detik – atau lebih lambat hampir tiga detik.
