FP1 Moto2 Qatar: Schrotter terkencang, Dimas paling bawah
Marcel Schrotter merebut posisi teratas, sedangkan Dimas Ekky terpaut hampir 3,5 detik pada Free Practice 1 Moto2 Qatar, Jumat (8/3).

Thomas Luthi menguasai jalannya sesi latihan bebas pertama, bahkan memimpin hingga 16 menit tersisa. Kendati demikian, justru Schrotter yang mampu mengamankan urutan pertama.
Pembalap Dynavolt Intact GP itu membukukan catatan waktu terkencang 1 menit 59,591 detik. Di belakangnya ada Xavi Vierge, diikuti Bo Bendsneyder yang melengkapi tiga besar.
Luthi sendiri akhirnya harus puas menghuni tempat keempat atau lebih lambat 0,342 detik. Sementara menempati posisi kelima adalah Andrea Locatelli, di depan Augusto Fernandez.
Jorge Navarro mengamankan urutan ketujuh, sekaligus mengungguli Luca Marini dan rookie Enea Bastianini. Dan pada slot ke-10 dihuni pembalap muda Italia, Lorenzo Baldassarri.
Dimas tampaknya masih kesulitan dengan trek Losail dan adaptasi motor Moto2. Meski catatan waktunya meningkat menjadi 2 menit 03,050 detik, tetapi posisi ke-32 jelas jauh dari kata memuaskan.
Dua pembalap terjatuh saat FP1. Iker Lecuona mengalami highside di Tikungan 3, sedangkan Somkiat Chantra tersungkur di Tikungan 4. Ada pun, Sam Lowes didera masalah mekanikal.
